4 Days 3 Nights Tour
Day 1
- Depart Adelaide 0730hrs
- Travel Highway One to Port Wakefield stopping of at St Kilda to take a boardwalk through the mangroves then onto to visit the historic Port Wakefield
- From Pt Wakefield we leave Highway One and head for the Yorke Peninsula, stopping at Ardrossan a grain export port and the One Steel Limestone Quarry from where will gain an excellent view over the St Vincent Gulf.
- Continuing along the coast to Stansbury, visiting some of the many popular beachside holiday destinations for city dwellers.
- Overnight: Stansbury
Day 2
- Stansbury – Pondalowie Bay / Marion Bay
- This morning we have a leisurely walk around Stansbury before head toward Marion Bay.
- Along the way we call at Wool Bay and Port Giles one of South Australia’s largest grain ports used to export the large harvest from the fertile soils of Yorke Peninsula. We then visit Edithburgh enroute to Marion Bay and Innes National Park to explore the old town of Inneston establish to mine gypsum from the local lakes. While explore the park we will also learn about the maritime disasters of the coastline during the early 1900 before adjourning to Pondalowie Bay for our overnight camp.

Day 3
- Pondalowie Bay / Marion Bay – Moonta Bay
- Today we explore the west coast of Yorke Peninsula visiting Corny Point, Point Turton, Minlaton to visit the Capt Harry Butler memorial, Balgowan and Moonta before setting up camp at Moonta Bay.
- Overnight: Moonta Bay
Day 4
- Moonta Bay – Adelaide
- Today we explore the mining history of the Copper Coast. We visit the School of Mines, the Moonta Mines, candy shop and take a tour underground at the Wheal Hughes which was re-mined in the 1990’s.
- We then travel to Wallaroo and important grain & fishing port before turning for Adelaide visiting the Farm Shed Museum at Kadina.
- Arrive Adelaide approx 1800hrs.
5 Days / 4 Nights Tour
Day 1
- Adelaide – Naracoorte
- Depart Adelaide 0730hrs and travel through the Adelaide hills to Mannum once a bustling river port choked with paddle steamers transporting goods up and down the River Murray.
- From here we follow the river to Murray Bridge before heading to the SE of SA via the Dukes Hwy passing through Tailem Bend, Coonalpyn, and Keith stopping along the way to explore the history of these small towns which are the hearts of the local farming communities
- From Keith we travel the Riddoch Hwy to Padthaway wine region visiting historic Padthaway House and taste the local wines, then onto Naracoorte for our overnight stay.
- Overnight: Naracoorte
Day 2
- Naracoorte – Mt Gambier
- This morning we have a look around Naracoorte before venturing of to the World Heritage listed Naracoorte Caves to explore the Wanambi Fossil centre, the Wet and Victoria Fossil Caves.
- After the caves we continue south along the Riddoch Hwy stopping in at the Bool Lagoon Game Reserve a summer retreat for a diverse variety of migratory wader birds. We then head to one of Australia’s finest wine regions, the Coonawarra to sample some of the world’s most respected wines where the marriage of terra rossa soil, pure ground water and a long cool ripening season give rise to wines of unique flavours and quality.
- Now in good spirit, we retreat to our overnight destination of Mt Gambier.

Day 3
- Mt Gambier – Robe
- Mt Gambier is known for its timber industries, dairy products and its extinct volcanoes.
- Today we will visit its most famous volcano, the Blue Lake, a sink hole which has been transformed into a magnificent garden and other local sites.
- We then head to the coast visiting Dingley Dell, the home of one of Australia’s famous poets and Port MacDonnell a popular summer retreat for beach goers and safe haven for the local fishing fleet.
- After Port MacDonnell we begin our trip along the Limestone Coast stopping off at Millicent an area that is known for its paper and tissue manufacturing as well as other farming activities then onto Beachport another popular holiday spot and fishing town and then to our overnight stop at Robe home of a large cray fishing fleet moored in its own natural harbour.

Day 4
- Robe – Meningie
- Today we will view the sites of Robe before continuing our journey along the Limestone Coast visiting the Mt. Benson – Cape Jaffa wine region, Cape Jaffa and Kingston towns’ home of more cray fishing boats and the start of the 90 mile beach along the Coorong a large stranded coastal lagoon home of the famous Coorong Mullet and a bird watchers paradise. We will access the 90 Mile Beach at Salt Creek a popular recreational fishing spot for the popular mulloway fish. After a short walk along the 90 Mile Beach we will continue onto Meningie set on the shore of Lake Albert one of the lower lakes of the River Murray.

Day 5
- Meningie - Adelaide
Today we cross the River Murray via ferry, one of many that service towns along the length of the river.
- We travel via the Langhorm Creek region visiting a horseradish farm and winery, Bleasdale Wines the original winemakers of the region and one of only a handful of family owned winery left in Australia and view the magnificent old redgum wine press which is still used today.
- From here we travel through the picturesque Adelaide Hills to the German village of Handorf for a wander along the main street of this very popular tourist destination.
- After Handorf we head back to Adelaide stopping off at Mt Lofty for a scenic view over the city before descending down the western slopes of the Mount Lofty Ranges

Day 4 - Saturday September 4th, 2021
- Birdsville: After a hearty breakfast we will take drive to the eastern edge of the Simpson Desert to tackle 30m high Big Red the largest of 1500 red sand dunes encountered when doing the desert crossing.
- Return Birdsville to attend the races during the afternoon.

- Up early and pack up camp.
- Head back south along the famous Birdsville track for home after a hectic weekend

- Gawler Ranges – Pildappa Rock
- Travel through the gently rolling and peaceful hills of the Gawler Ranges
- Observe ancient domes of volcanic rock displaying fascinating geological formations and avivid array of colours.
- View shimmering salt lakes and densely vegetated sand hills that bloom with wildflowers after rain.
- Visit an old stone dam and the organ pipesYou will see some of the 140 species of birds recorded in the Ranges as well as numerous other native animals.

- Pildappa Rock – Fowlers Bay
- Travel along the Eyre Highway named after one of South Australia’s most recognised explorers Edward John Eyre who made the first successful east – west crossing of the
- Nullarbor (tree less) Plain.
- Visiting Ceduna, Thevenard, Penong, the world famous Cactus surfing Beach, Pt Sinclair and Fowlers Bay.
- Overnight: Fowlers Bay.
Day 7
- Fowlers Bay – Ceduna
- Continue along the Eyre Highway to the Head of the Great Australia Bight for whale watching from the spectacular Bunda Cliffs of the Nullarbor Coastline.
- After Whale Watching for a few hours we return to the Eyre Highway and travel back to Ceduna
- Overnight: Ceduna

- Ceduna – Baird Bay
- Follow the rugged Eyre Peninsula coastline visiting popular local fishing, surfing and swimming beaches.
- Visit the popular seaside town of Streaky Bay, Cape Bauer, whistling rocks, blowholes and Pt Labatt sea lion colony.
- Overnight: Baird Bay
Day 9
- Baird Bay - Elliston
- Take a boat tour on Baird Bay to have a close at hand experience with Australian Sea Lions and an opportunity to swim with the sea lions. (weather permitting)
- After the swim we continue along the Flinders Highway to Elliston viewing more spectacular coastline including the Talia Cave and sinkhole as well some unusual granite outcrops,Murphy’s Haystacks and a cliff top sculpture drive.

Day 10
- Elliston – Adelaide
- Travel the Birdseye Highway to Lock, Rudall then to Darke Peak and Waddikee to visit one of the best private mineral collections in Australia.
- From Waddikee we travel to the Eyre Highway for our final leg back to Adelaide passing the Middleback Ranges composed of large resources of iron ore that gave birth to the Australian steel industry.

- Arkaroola - Farina
- Take the Ridge Top Tour and experience the most rugged part of the Flinders Ranges.
- Visit the Quandong Cafe, Leigh Creek Coalfields.
- Visit Talc Alf, the Ochre Pits.
- Overnight: Camping near Farina historic town site or accommodation in Leigh Creek, Lyndhurst or Marree.
Day 4
- Farina - William Creek
- Travel the Oodnadatta Track.
- Visit Marree, Lake Eyre South, the Mound Springs and the William Creek Pub.
- Overnight: William Creek and have a cold beer with the locals.
Day 5
- William Creek - Coober Pedy
- Travel to Coober Pedy
- View Australia’s longest fence.
- Visit the Breakaways

- Coober Pedy – Gawler Ranges

- Along the way we stop of at Lock’s Well a popular beach fishing spot and the Coffin Bay National Park.
- Overnight: Coffin Bay NP/Pt Lincoln NP
Day 13
- Pt Lincoln NP
- Today we explore the Pt Lincoln NP and Whalers Way viewing sea stacks, crevasses, sea eagle nests, secluded beaches and much more.
- Overnight: Pt Lincoln NP
Day 14
- Pt Lincoln – Cowell
- We return to Pt Lincoln to view the fishing fleet, marina and various sites of Pt Lincoln one of the original sites nominated for the states capital city.
- We then travel along the Lincoln Highway to Cowell stopping at various beachside towns to experience the quaint coastal lifestyle of eastern Eyre Peninsula

- Cowell - Adelaide
- Return to Adelaide stopping of at Whyalla the birth town of the Australian steel industry.
- Visit Wadlata Outback Centre, and travel the tunnel of time of the Flinders Ranges and Outback South Australia.
- Travel via the Highway 1 stopping at Pt Germein to view one of Australia’s longest wooden jetties

- Travel to Boulia via Bedourie a regular watering point for cattle, drovers and Cobb and Co Coaches in the late 1800 and early 1900.

- Visit the "Min Min Lights" and fossil museums.
- Travel along the Diamantina Development Road to Mt Isa passing through Djarra once the world’s largest cattle trucking depot.
- Once in Mt Isa visit an underground hospital, mining museum and Kalkanoon Tribal Centre.

- Mt Isa – Adel’s Grove
- Take a walk through the World Heritage listed Riversleigh Australian Fossil Mammal Site
- Establish camp at Adels Grove named after Albert de Lestrange who took up the property as an experimental Botanical Gardens in 1920.

- Lawn Hill NP
- Explore Lawn Hill NP
- Take a canoe and explore the heart of Lawn Hill Gorge.
- Take one of the many walks available at the Gorge.

- Adel’s Grove – Cloncurry
- Travel the Will’s Development Road via Gregory Downs to Burke & Wills Junction.
- We then head south along the Burke Development road (Matilda Way) passing the old Albert Hotel in Quamby to Cloncurry.
- Visit Cloncurry founded by Ernest Henry and established upon Copper mining in 1867.
- Also the birth place of Qantas and the Royal Flying Doctor Service in the early 1900.

- Travel through the heart of Matilda country home of the song “Waltzing Matilda” by Banjo Patterson.
- Passing through Kynuna once a staging post for Cobb & Co and home of the famous Blue Heeler Hotel a watering hole for Banjo Patterson.
- Visit the Waltzing Matilda centre

Day 12
- Winton – Longreach
- Continue along the Matilada Way to Longreach where we visit the Stockman Hall of Fame and the Qantas Museum.
- Overnight: Longreach (Stonehenge)
Day 13
- Longreach (Stonehenge) – Cordillo Downs (Innamincka)
- Travel via theWalford NP, Windorah Beetoota and Cordillo Downs.
- Visit Australia’s largest historic woolshed

- Bush Camp - Innamincka
- Today we head into the heart of Australia’s most disastrous expedition.
- Travel toward Nappa Merrie on the banks of the Cooper Creek site of the “Burke & Wills Dig Tree”
- Overnight: Cullyamurra Waterhole/Innamincka
Day 15
- Innamincka
- At Innamincka visit the restored Elizabeth Symon Nursing Home a branch of John Flynn’s Australian Inland Mission the birth or the Royal Flying Doctor service, Burke’s Grave, the town common and Cullyamurra Waterhole.
- Overnight: Cullyamurra Waterhole/Innamincka
Day 16
- Innamincka Area
- Travel through the Innamincka regional reserve to Coongie Lakes
- Visit an outback oasis that becomes the breeding ground for numerous species of water birds during a wet season.
- Visit other Burke & Wills Sites time permitting.
- Overnight: Cullyamurra Waterhole/Innamincka
Day 17
- Innamincka – Tibooburra
- Travel the Strzelecki Track made famous by Harry Redford who drove a 1000 stolen cattle south and sold them at the historic Blanchewater Station.
- We pass by the Moomba Gas station before we leave the track and head east via Merty Merty Station to Cameron Corner the Junction of NSW, Qld & SA then Sturt NP and Tibooburra an historic gold mining town.
- Overnight: Tibooburra
Day 18
- Tibooburra - Broken Hill –
- Travel via the Silver City Hwy to Milparinka, Packsaddle and Broken Hill stopping to inspect the old Buildings and learn about the history of the area.
- While in Broken Hill have opportunity to view a mining museum, Pro Hart Gallery and the Living Desert and Sculpture Symposium.
- Overnight: Broken Hill
Day 19
- Broken Hill - Peterborough
- Visit Silverton historic town.
- Travel the Barrier Highway SW toward Adelaide.
- Stop off at many historic railway towns of the Indian Pacific line.
- Overnight: Peterborough
Day 20
- Peterborough - Adelaide
- Travel via the Barrier Hwy passing through historic Terowie a major town on the original East – West Railway Line and Burra copper mining town. Visit the Burra Copper mine and many historic buildings around Burra before returning to Adelaide.
- Arrive approx 1800hrs
- Overnight: Adelaide
